This Family Camp is a four-day, four-night event, open to anyone in the churches of the OPC Presbytery of the Southeast. Campers will have the opportunity to enjoy encouraging fellowship and edifying teaching, amidst the beauty of God’s Creation, in the lovely Uwharrie Mountains of North Carolina.

The goal of this camp is two-fold:

  • 1. to build and strengthen the bonds of fellowship within our presbytery
  • 2. to provide edifying and encouraging teaching by outstanding teachers

The Family Camp

The OPC Family Camp for the Presbytery of the Southeast will be hosted at Camp Caraway in the lovely Uwharrie Mountains of North Carolina. Camp Caraway is centrally located within the geographic bounds of our Presbytery for ease of access to most of our churches. Camp Caraway is a Christian ministry and as such, operate their camp in light of their convictions.

Pricing

Prices

Our camp prices this year are subsidized by a generous provision of the Presbytery. The prices will be (20%) lower than usual, as long as subsidy funds are available.

These rates will not last long, so be sure to register early to take advantage of the lower prices. Please note: a $100 fee will be charged for all cancellations.

The following prices are underwritten by Presbytery, until resources are depleted:

We are delighted to announce that our speaker for our fourth annual PSE Family Camp will be Dr. L. Michael Morales.

Dr. Morales is a minister in the Presbyterian Church in America and serves as Professor of Biblical Studies at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He formerly served as Provost and Professor of OT at Reformation Bible College.

He is the author of a growing number of popular books on Old Testament studies, including: The Tabernacle Pre-Figured: Cosmic Mountain Ideology in Genesis and Exodus, Exodus Old and New: A Biblical Theology of Redemption, Who Shall Ascend the Mountain of the Lord? A Biblical Theology of the Book of Leviticus, and an upcoming commentary on the book of Numbers.

Michael is married to Elise, and they have four sons.

Recreation

Recreation

The recreational options at Camp Caraway are numerous and impressive. The camp offers many hiking trails through the Uwharrie Mountains. There are team building activities such as a climbing wall, and two zip lines. Water activities are also plentiful, such as a large swimming pool with a diving board and key log rolling, and a lake with a large water slide, coracle boats and kayaks.

During free times, campers are welcome to relax or choose from these activities with their group: fishing, gaga ball, 9 square in the air, beach volleyball, 4 square, 9 square on the ground, tether ball, basketball, athletic field, hiking, or game room.

Lodging

Lodging

Camp Caraway’s conference center has 80 private bedrooms with private baths. They are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. The rooms are equipped with linens, towels, toilet paper, irons, and ironing boards, and hair dryers.

While there are no TV’s or coffee makers in the rooms, reliable high-speed internet is available throughout the building; also, a large flat screen TV and courtesy coffee are available 24/7 in the lobby.

Rooms will be available on a first come, first serve basis, and will be assigned according to number of family members and available accommodations. At the discretion of Caraway staff, larger families may be assigned additional rooms at no extra cost, to meet their needs. Inflatable mattresses (not provided) may be brought into the rooms to maximize occupancy.

Those who wish to stay off-site may also attend as Day Campers for a lower cost.

Meals Overview

This year, 11 full meals (Tuesday dinner through Saturday breakfast) are included in the price of the camp. Day guests have lunch and dinner only included in their cost.

Camp Caraway’s dining room seats 130 with two adjacent private dining rooms that seat 50 each. Campers may also eat in the covered back patio.

The meals are served buffet style and the menus typically feature healthy and delicious southern comfort food. A full salad bar will be served at both lunch and dinner. Dietary needs are gladly accommodated by Camp Caraway’s professional staff when requested.

Alternative Food Options

Families may bring in a limited amount of their own food and snacks. Please note: Only a very small amount of refrigerator space available for group use. Families will be responsible to provide their own refrigeration (small refrigerators, coolers).

Allergy Policy and Instructions

All family members with allergies or special dietary needs should include this information on the registration form at the time of registration. All food requests and allergy notifications must be shared with the camp two weeks prior to arrival at camp.

Each morning after breakfast, we will meet for a time of teaching by our guest speaker.

Each afternoon after lunch, campers are free to enjoy a wide variety of scheduled recreational activities including hiking, ropes course challenges, and daily water activities at the lake and swimming pool.

After dinner each evening, we will enjoy another time of teaching by our guest speaker followed by free time with activities such as gaga ball, ultimate frisbee, and campfires.

  • Toiletries; soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
  • Inflatable mattresses and extra sheets and blankets, if desired for maximizing lodge occupancy
  • Refrigeration for your personal food (cooler, small plug-in refrigerator, etc.)
  • Laundry baskets or laundry bags for dirty and wet clothes (Note: washing machines / dryers are NOT available)

For all who are interested in purchasing 2024 PSE Family Camp T-Shirts, please note the following:

T-shirts must be ordered at the time of registration, using the online registration form. The shirts will be picked up along with the registration packet at the time of check-in.

T-shirts must be ordered before June 17th to allow for the shirt orders to be processed and printed. Orders after this point cannot be guaranteed.

Please double check your sizes before ordering. Substitutions or changes cannot be guaranteed.
